Quarantine & Disease Control
Every shipment, we hold fish for minimum of 2 weeks after they arrive at John’s Discus facility. During quarantine in John’s Discus Facility, we also send test fish to University of Florida pathologist.Quarantine procedure for customers
When you receive order from John’s Discus, it is your responsibility to acclimate and follow the quarantine process. This is very important for new arrival discus. You have to inspect your fish and be sure that they are healthy, eating well and give them enough rest after their shipment arrival.- Please do not introduce newly arrived fish to your existing stock without a quarantine process.
- Please setup separate tank before shipment. (please make sure, quarantine tank do not have any issue)
- Please use separate equipment and separate with your existing stock.
- Please monitor your fish 4 – 6 weeks.
- You can use a worm treatment and other parasite treatments during quarantine. (this is your choice)
- There is always a chance of bacterial issues with new discus, if you are not sure, please seek medication advice.
- Please do not mix quarantine equipment with your existing equipment.
- If you can make a separate a room for the quarantine process, it is the best.
- After the quarantine process, you need to introduce one of your least favorite discus from your existing stock into the quarantine tank. Keep monitoring for another 2 weeks. If there is no problem, you can try to mix your quarantine and existing groups.
- If you have an issue after mixing quarantine and existing groups, please let me know as soon as possible.
